Step 1: Create Your Fundraising Page with DonorPerfect HERE.

Note: If you’re birding as part of a team, please designate one person to create the team's fundraising page. You will enter your team name in the “Created By” field when customizing your page.

Follow the simple instructions on the DonorPerfect platform and you’re all set! You will receive a Welcome Email from outreach@gbbo.org after you create your page with additional competition details and resources.

Step 2: Go birding and collect donations!

Step 3: Submit your checklists! Prizes will be awarded for Most Species Counted and Most Funds Raised in all competition categories.

Submitting Donations and Species Checklists:

  • Support the general Bird-a-thon: Donors can support the Bird-a-thon’s mission of raising funds for conservation science and education without pledging to a specific team!

  • Support a team: Donors can choose to support a specific team to help them reach their fundraising goal and become eligible for prizes. All teams will be raising funds to contribute to the overall fundraising goal of the Bird-a-thon.

Alternatively, donations can be made by cash or check payable to Great Basin Bird Observatory. Participants are responsible for collecting all offline donations at the conclusion of the Bird-a-thon. We strongly encourage birders to e-mail a species checklist spreadsheet to outreach@gbbo.org , but will also accept checklists by mail.

Mail your completed checklist and donations to Great Basin Bird Observatory Attn Birdathon:  1755 E. Plumb Ln Ste 256A Reno, Nevada 89502 *All offline pledges and species lists are to be returned to GBBO and must be postmarked no later than June 7, 2026 to be counted towards awards.
