Please join the Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance (Lahontan Audubon Society) for a Christmas Bird Count orientation and practice bird count at Rancho San Rafael! Binoculars will be provided. We will start with an introduction to the Christmas Bird Count, including the history of the count, protocol, and tips for counting. We will then split into groups and divide up the park to count birds in a practice run ahead of the Truckee Meadows CBC.
This walk is open to people of all identities and all levels of birding (beginner to advanced).
Learn about local CBCs on the Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance website. If a count is full, please consider joining a count like Fallon, Winnemucca, Summer Lake, or Woodsfords. These areas are a little more remote, but they still need bird counters! The National Audubon Society CBC page has even more circles to explore!
