Great Basin Birds Journal

GBBO publishes an annual journal called Great Basin Birds. First published in 1998, Great Basin Birds publishes articles on all aspects of the status, distribution, and conservation of bird populations and communities in the Great Basin. We welcome original research and review articles, discussions of articles in past issues, and other short contributions.

Janet Bair, Will Richardson, and Elisabeth Ammon currently serve as editors of Great Basin Birds. A link on this page directs contributors to guidelines for manuscript preparation and submission. Articles listed there reflect the diversity of bird-related activities and research in the Great Basin region. Updates on several activities are published each year, and the annual report by the Nevada Bird Records Committee provides information on the unusual and rare birds that have been observed and documented in the state. Copies of issues containing articles of interest can be purchased from GBBO, as described below.

Members of GBBO receive a subscription to Great Basin Birds with their membership. You also can order single copies of Great Basin Birds for $6.50 (includes shipping and handling). If you have editorial experience, first-hand experience with the peer-review process, have an interest in ornithology and bird conservation, and have time to become an editor on a volunteer basis, please contact us .This work will not take a huge amount of your time, and can be done remotely via the internet.
